WildSpark’s Attention Economy Model Explained
TL;DR
WildSpark Beta is using this attribution formula to divide value within the network
The formula is not final; expected to be tweaked and optimized
The model is available as a whitepaper
Creators get a ⅓ of every Amplification
Direct Curators get a ⅓ of every Amplification
The remaining ⅓ is recursively distributed between the Creator and earlier Curators
Curation Rewards are dependant on personal Amplification
WildSpark is a first step in establishing a Liberated Attention Economy that empowers users, acting as a replacement for centralized content hosting and distribution platforms. It is important to emphasize that although WildSpark has an element of earning monetary rewards for curation, its explicit purpose is to let people support content creators directly while helping others discover their work, in a fair, free manner.
In line with this approach, WildSpark's attribution formula will gradually be updated to allocate a greater share of AMPs to creators. At this early stage of growing the network, the current formula allows us to test the product better and make the game more exciting for those Amplifying and curating content.
The model can be found in its academic form in a whitepaper written by Rogayeh Tabrizi, Ph.D., an expert data scientist focusing on analyzing social and economic networks. This post will explain the basic mechanism behind Content Amplification, and clarify how value is distributed throughout the network.
Case Study
One day, you a get message from your good friend Bob: “Hey mate, check out this awesome video Alan has made!”. The link, which sends you to a Youtube video, points at WildSpark’s website, where Bob can view the video and get WildSpark himself. You watch the video, see that it truly is great, and decide to support Alan, its creator. Having the freedom to Amplify the content by any desired amount (above a minimum threshold), you choose to Amplify it with 12 AMPs.
