I enjoy using Jaxx and I utilized it as my wallet for all of my crypto before I bought myself a Ledger Nano. While the wallet and the people behind it are great, they are taking a very long time to implement BCH into their wallet. This is a guide on how to import your private keys and "redeem" them via Electron Cash.
Step 1: Download the Electron Cash wallet for your OS. In this post I will be going through with the Windows version.
Step 2: Once the download is finished open the file and you should see the following screen. If you see a different screen then you have already used Electron Cash and I recommend you simply change the wallet name to something that is not already stored in the directory.
Step 3: Click Next and select the option "Standard wallet".
Step 4: At this point you should see the following. Select "Use public or private keys".
Step 5: Go back to your Jaxx wallet and select the three horizontal lines on the top right, go to "Menu, and select "Tools".
Step 6: After selecting "Tools" you should see the following screen. Click "Display Private Keys". MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN A SAFE AND PRIVATE AREA, IF ANYONE HAS ACCESS TO THESE KEYS THEY WILL HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR FUNDS!
Step 9: Select "Next" and you will be prompted to create a new password for the wallet file you created. Make sure you make something that is secure.
Step 10: You will now see the following screen, though you will have a different history than I and will have an actual balance other than 0. You can see your balance on the bottom left of the client. AT THIS POINT YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH DONE! GET READY TO CLAIM YOUR FREE MONEY!
Step 11: Go to "Send" and select what address you will be sending your BCH to as well as the amount. I highly recommend getting a hardware wallet but if you do some searching you should be able to find other wallets and exchanges to which you can send your BCH to.
EXTRA STEP: Some may experience a server issue and will not be able to "adjust" the fee in which to send their BCH. You will have to go to "Preferences" which is at the bottom right of the Electron Cash client, it looks like a screwdriver and wrench forming an 'X'. You should see the following screen.
Adjust the amount in the "Max static fee" box to whatever you would like and you should be able to send your BCH now. You can also select the "Edit fees manually" if you'd like. That should end this guide.
If y'all need more help don't be afraid to ask. Enjoy your new crypto :) -OG
