Making a gem stone pendant.... ๐ŸŒŠ Healing Properties of the Dolphin Stone ๐Ÿฌ

in #jewellery โ€ข 7 years ago (edited)

I have been learning the art and craft of Jewellery making on and off over the last 4 years. I always had an interest in the process, I loved buying and wearing fashion jewellery in my early twenties but had enough putting my money into fast throw away fashion. I started to appreciate the benefits of natural gemstones and their beauty and how wearing precious metals works with the electromagnetic flow of your own body.

This is not a cheap hobby as you have to buy all the tools and equipment not to mention the materials, courses and workshop fees aren't cheap either but I find there is something so satisfying about making something yourself. I really enjoy focusing on the small details and the technical aspects. I learned a whole new vocabulary learning the names for machines and processes that I never knew before. I've been taught to be scared of fire, and unless you have experience with campfires and using open fires, which I didn't, so soldering at first was a daunting aspect, but I immediately loved it and have found the whole jewellery making experience quite empowering.

I'm quite messy when I work, here's me at home polishing the almost finished piece. I made this over 2 days, first making the rim around the stone, (making sure its the right fit is a bit tricky) then a seat for the stone to fit on, the tube where the chain goes and then soldering all the metal joins together. Sanding is next to get rid of any scratches and then the final polish to make it all beautiful and shiny.

This stone is known as the dolphin stone, Atlantis Stone, Stefilia's Stone or Larimar and is found only in the Dominican republic, it is reminiscent of the crystal blue Caribbean waters but the stone it self if born out of the volcanic fire.

Larimar cools tempers and calms fears, relieves stress and nurtures the physical and emotional bodies. It is powerful in meditation and in connecting to the Divine Feminine, and is particularly helpful in releasing emotional bonds, patterns or principles that no longer serve the highest good. A stone of clear communication, it provides the strength and courage needed to speak openly from the heart.

I'm quite a fiery person in my astrological aspects and find I have a lot of passion, if I feel angry, I can get that burning sensation flare up really quickly and I get a red face ๐Ÿ˜ก LOL. This is one reason I have to lay off spicy food because it sparks up my inner fire. I think I'm attracted to Larimar as it's a soothing Water element stone, it cools hot tempers and guides excessive passion into peace. It may be used to diminish the frequency and intensity of hot flashes, and when one's kundalini energies have become uncomfortably active.

That is a beautiful stone and setting - I'm in total admiration! I only wear silver jewelry and I love learning about the different stones. Moonstone is my favorite at the moment. I had never heard of dolphin stone, but it sounds like it could be the answer to ALL my problems! ;-) That would really be amazing!

Thank u so much for your kind word @orangina :) Moonstone is gorgeous, i have a lovely moonstone ring from india which i wore almost everyday for a while but stopped over the winter months, i find it a nice summer stone for me as it the stone for cancer sign (the summer solstice time) seem to make me a bit emotional in the winter months. There are so many beautiful stones out there to explore :) what is your sun sign btw?

I love it! I really need to learn how to work with silver! I do some jewelry but still is rustic! follow you now! Hugs

Wow!! Amazing talent!! Def come join the jewelry guild!!

thank u so much :P how do i do that? do u have a discord chat room?

We are just getting started. We are working on a name and badge and we have a discord room started for us and I figured I should set a time when we have an official meeting. I should go ahead and probably post the room though so peeps can meet up anytime. I'll do that

Have you ever thought about producing these goods and selling them online?

I have a small etsy shop need to do more marketing for it, so many etsy seller ppl cant find ur stuff, but the fees are low unlike some other sites

Well, there's an easy way to do that. If you're willing to go onto shopify's basic plan which costs $29 USD/ month pretty much a dollar a day, you can set up your own store.. Shopify in fact also merges with apps such as etsy, oberlo and a few more which enables the platform to offer a drop-shipping capabilities.

Once you have your shop all set up, there is an app called Kit, provided by shopify. This app takes care of the marketing for you in a dynamic way. You can even pair it with your phone and get live updates.

If you need any help setting it all up, don't hesitate to get in touch!

well at the moment i dont have a dollar a day to spare, i wouldnt be selling enough and making enough profit to make it worth it. some piece take ages to make an i often have to under value the cost and labor. this is an added expensive i literally cant afford, ive been redundant for almost a year now, ive got a few interviews lined up but also means i dont have time for this, i never i did it to make a business just for myself really, thank for the info tho

Very beautiful.
