Whenever the cold wind starts blowing, don't you want to have a bowl of soup or something warm up your body?
I really do, for me, autumn and winter are truly the season that I need to go and eat this dish quite regularly.
RAMEN
Whenever I visit my relatives in Japan, the first place they always bring me is the ramen restaurant near my aunt's place, as they know my love for ramen so well.
That ramen restaurant is nothing very special, but the reason I always want to go there for my first meal in Japan is because of this special ramen.
Umakara ramen
Literally means spicy, delicious ramen in Japanese. You can choose the level of spiciness, I normally choose the middle one, I tried the highest level once since then I have never ordered it again. If you are confident of eating spicy food, you could challenge yourself 😋

Can you feel the spiciness from the broth colour? My cousin and friend ordered the highest level as they love spicy food, I ordered the middle one. First couple of bites were quite nice, really savoury and pleasedly filling. However, they couldn't finish it as they started feeling pains on their tongues and stomachs. So, please don’t underestimate Japanese spiciness, when they say its the spiciest, it is actually quite spicy 😅
Ippudo ramen
Ippudo is one of the famous Japanese ramen franchises, well known for tonkotsu-based (pork) soup which originated from Hakata. We were a bit worried what if its not satisfying enough because of stereotype of the franchise, however, their ramen was actually beyond our expectation.
The broth had quite deep meaty flavour from boiling pork for a long time, but, there was no bad smell from it. Chashu pork was just perfectly succulent, one of the best parts of ramen, Ajitsuke Tamago (ramen egg) was also pleasantly creamy. Ippudo has their branches abroad as well, check if there is one you can go and enjoy their ramen 😉
One big problem of recording what you ate is it reminds you how good it was and makes your mouth start watering😆. I really want to have a bowl of ramen now as where I live became quite cold recently. Let me know if you know any good ramen place in Japan or Germany, so that I can continue my ramen series😊
The first time I heard about ramen was while watching the film “The Ramen Girl” with Brittany Murphy. Abby, the main character, abandoned by her boyfriend, is lost and desperate in a foreign country. She starts working in a ramen restaurant bearing the rigid training of a tyrannical Japanese chef. At the end she understands that to prepare the perfect ramen you need to balance the ingredients, like in life you need to find your inner balance to be happy. I think that the different recipes of ramen is another expression of the Japanese culture: in one bowl you can experience, feel, taste, the perfection of a little colorfull universe as the photos of kinb78 show. I never tried ramen before but I am sure that the day I will, it will be sitting in a ramen restaurant in Japan, I want it all: tasting the flavors, the atmosfere, the cultural experience.

Thank you for the reply, also for the info about the film. You are right, whenever I taste a bowl of good ramen, I am always surprised by the balance of all the ingredients. I hope you really can go to Japan and taste good ramen one day as your hope, it will never let you down I am pretty sure:)
