Restaurant Industry Protests Against Asinine Government Regulation
Well it's day 118 of the government lockdown here in South Africa, and we were slowing easing the absolute stupidest regulations, allowing folks to get back to work. Then as expected we saw an increase in deaths as well as infections, which is exactly what happens when you "flatten the cure", because we knew from the start that there is no way to stop a virus, but only to delay the spread. Which was suppose to give governments time to prepare, which is something the South African government didn't really do, they were too busy trying save the millions of people from going hungry due to the lockdown.
When both infection and death rate started to increase they backtracked and reinstated the curfew as well as the ban on alcohol. Unfortunately the massive implications of these decisions were not thought through properly, like the say in the series Dark, everything is connected.
"Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny." - Thomas Jefferson
Here are the hard facts, people in the restaurant industry have now been without work for just over four months, and just when they thought they were able to get back to work, two weeks later a 9PM curfew was reinstated. Which mean that the majority of restaurants which trade at night could essentially only open for 2 hours, and not being able to sell wine or any kind of alcohol, which makes up for most of there profits, meant opening was pretty pointless.
Which is what promoted the "1 Million Seats on the Streets" campaign, to bring attention to the crippling effects of the ANC government's insane lockdown regulations, curfew and the prohibitions on alcohol and cigarettes. Unfortunately because this was not a race based protest like BLM, which Corona virus stays away from, the powers that be quickly sent in the police to put an end to these actual peaceful protestors, who did nothing more than place chairs in the road.
Will any of this make any kind of impact on those corrupt government officials implementing these retarded regulations, at the cost of the every citizens ability to provide for their families, probably not.
"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin
