Winter's COming...

IMG_0029 2.jpg

There are only a few days left officially this Summer. The days have definitely been getting noticeably shorter and, when the BST changes over, it will be even more noticeable. I love autumn, mainly for photography reasons, but I'm not a big fan of what it means haha. Winter is coming.

This summer has moved a little too quickly for my liking. I think time speeds up when you are very busy. It has been a very busy summer for me. The time just zoomed past like a Tesla driven by an overzealous teenager. Even September is over half gone now. Where did all the time go?

Talking of being busy, I still haven't done all the things on my August todo list, let alone September haha. All my expense have also gone up, including coffee at the cafe. Heck, even the £1.29 coffee at MacDomands is now £1.39! That may not seem like much, but that represents an inflation of nearly 8%!!! Other things have gone up even more, the most disheartening of which is my gas bill. I received correspondence from the energy company that they will be raising my cost starting October 1. Perfect time for when the temperature goes down and our dependence on gas increases.

I just have a bad feeling about this winter. I think things are going to be really hard for many. I heard that some benefits previously enjoyed by the elderly/pensioners have been withdrawn or curtailed somewhat. The country is broke generally, so I get that we are cutting costs. I can think of other places to cut costs that wouldn't have to involve endangering the lives of the most vulnerable people in society, but that could get political very quickly.

Meanwhile I'm milking every drop out of the bit of good weather we have left. I try to spend as much time as possible outdoors, including taking my computer out to do some typing in the park haha. Luckily we have benches with tables around some of the parks here.

Peace & Love,

Adé

It's been a mixed summer and not too hot generally. It was a little warmer in Croatia last week, but I'm home now.

I think the pensioner benefit has been badly handled. They need to make it easier for those in need to get it and for those who don't to opt out. They also need to improve insulation in more old homes so people can save on their heating.

I totally agree. These people have paid into the system for a lifetime and deserve to be treated better
