Fascination with secret doors

in #journal7 years ago (edited)

When I was a kid I used to imagine being able to travel through laundry shoots. I know strange right? I guess I used to love horror films or spy films where you put your hand on a secret lever and out comes a secret passage way.

I’m sure it’s not only me who thought how cool it was to have a secret lair to something. I’m not much into the horror versions of this story like in Indiana Jones, or Vampire movies. Certainly serial killers love the concept..

Perhaps we enjoy these “secret passages” because it triggers in the mind wonder, excitement, mystery, and perhaps even safety. Remember the Bat-cave? How about a place full of hidden treasure. There’s no other place where imagination goes wild like a hidden room.

I guess for now, I’ll use the secret laundry shoot

What better place to hide your gold, silver, cash, and I guess hard wallet crypto keys. In any case, keep imagining steemit.

I had the same fascination as a child, and I still do as an adult. I remember designing these hidden areas in my imagination on certain nights. I really like the idea of a bed that slides to the side revealing a staircase to a basement. I also dig the idea of a poster or tapestry on the ceiling that when removed reveals a secret hole in the ceiling that has a drop down ladder to an attic. I also very distinctly remember wishing that I could make a secret passage that connected the closets of multiple rooms. The book shelves are still so classic, and I love the metaphor that it provides. Books are the key to other worlds :)

Maybe one day I'll be a crypto millionare and design my house with all sorts of secret lairs.

I can certainly relate to this. I used to read fairy stories about secret places in the forest, and of course the Narnia series where the characters go through the wardrobe to whole new world.

I can even recall reading the Thomas Covenant series which is not really a secret door, but he is transported to another reality.

Perhaps it comes from a reality that a world of riches does live just beyond our senses. Maybe one day we WILL find it. :-D

I've always imagined having a secret doorway put somewhere in my house, because I feel like that would be the most insanely smart place to hide if there was ever an intruder. Then I remember that my kids and pets are all feral and that you could hear them from 7 miles away.

Enjoy to read your post like your secret passage.

Secret doors and passages always intrigued me to no end growing up and still do to some extent! The first house I remember living in was built sometime during the late 1700s to early 1800s I spent many hours trying to find secret spots in that house!

Like pics of secrets laundry shoots.
