From Death to Life!

Christ has risen! He has risen indeed!

”He is not here: for he is risen” Matthew 28:6

Wow, imagine being there in those times. We sometimes misjudge and point to the disciples for being with the Lord and hearing His teachings about his death and resurrection, and still finding themselves hopeless and afraid after Jesus died. Doubting the testimony of the women about the resurrection, Thomas doubting of the testimony of the disciples, the disciples not recognizing Christ in person when he appeared to them. Why?

Because the miracle of the resurrection was God's supernatural intervention in human history, not just an ordinary day. Many things happened during those days:

  • Christ was fulfilling God's will in sacrificing himself for our sins.
  • People were displaying their true fallen nature and their need of a Savior by going against the only one who really cared about them and loved them till the end.
  • God was completing his redemption plan promised to man immediately after the fall.
  • Satan was being crushed by the same cross he tried to use in his attempt to interrupt God's salvation plan.
  • Spiritual death was conquered and new hope of eternal life has entered mankind.
It wasn't easy to get all the pieces together in those times. We know much information today about what happened more than 2000 years ago in Jerusalem and that sometimes makes us feel as being better as the disciples. This would be an unjust comparison. It's like watching a game, from the outside we are the best players and couches.

We need to look at our today, and how we see Jesus Christ in our present, not in our past. Do we understand the burden of sin cast upon Jesus's shoulders? Do we really get to see ourselves as what we really are without the cleansing blood of Christ? Do we appreciate the supreme sacrifice of the Lamb of God for the entire humanity? Are we thankful and grateful for being part of it? Is Jesus ALIVE in our hearts TODAY? Do we feel him at work and active in our today, or it just sounds like a nice story to be told?

We really don't have much left to say about the disciples doubting and fearing...

Faith is not easy when things don't go the way we expected them to happen.

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1

The disciples were finding themselves at a crucial point in establishing their faith. We can remain with the story or we can make history. The people God chooses to use are far from perfect and understand their limitations, putting themselves in the hand of God, learning to trust Him and believe He has a perfect plan for each of us.

If we don't have a living Christ in our today, there is not much hope in our tomorrow.

Christ has risen and he is alive indeed. Glory be to God!
