As Assange's Expulsion Looms, Supporters Gather, as Do Police with Assault Rifles

in #julianassange6 years ago (edited)

Things are heating up around the Ecuadorian embassy in London after WikiLeaks alerted everyone that Julian Assange is facing a likely imminent termination of asylum and therefore expulsion.

Supporters have gathered around the embassy on the other side of the street, along with news crews to cover what seems to be mere days of waiting for Assange to be sold out and handed of to the British authorities. This comes after remarks by the Ecuadorian President Moreno fabricated claims that Assange broke some ad-hoc asylum rules imposed on him that he never agreed to.

One of these draconian rules is a limit on his free speech. Specifically,to be "allowed" to stay in the embassy, the government via Moreno denied Assange the right to say anything that would negatively reflect on Ecuador or it's relationships with other states. Back to the present, WikiLeaks tweeted about the INA Papers scandal that involved the Ecuadorian government and the Moreno's family.

Moreno is using this tweeting as justification to fabricate a breach of terms Assange never agreed to, and didn't even break himself. The is the pretext being used to satisfy a long desire of Moreno to get rid of Assange, and ingratiate himself with the United States.

BREAKING: A high level source within the Ecuadorian state has told @WikiLeaks that Julian Assange will be expelled within "hours to days" using the #INAPapers offshore scandal as a pretext--and that it already has an agreement with the UK for his arrest.

In the wake of these bogus claims to try to get Assange kicked out and fed to the wolves, journalist John Pilger has called on WikiLeaks and Assange supporters to "fill the street outside the embassy and protect him" and for the work to "show solidarity with a courageous man".

Shortly thereafter, a small group of supporters eganto hold a vigil for Assange in front of the embassy. They even added an LED message saying "NO EXPULSION" and set up tents.

But then the police came to take down their tents and the message. They are now patrolling the area, armed, often with assault rifles.

This is the first time in a long time that heavily armed police have returned to stalk the embassy where Assange is being held in captivity since 2012.

The U.K. and Ecuador's foreign ministry denied there is a nmove to expel Assange, yet admit the police still admit they are interested in arresting him for on ongoing warrant:

Police said in a statement there is an active warrant for Assange’s arrest and that the police are “obliged to execute that warrant should he leave the Embassy.”

Police withdrew the round-the-clock guard outside the embassy in October 2015 after more than three years in favor of what the service called a “covert” approach.

Ecuador says they won't comment on the recent "rumors, theories or conjectures" about Assange's seemingly imminent expulsion. But with the information that WikiLeaks says is from a "high level source", and the apparent motives of Moreno to lash back at those who tie him to the INA Papers scandal, it seems this threat facing Assange is real indeed.

Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.

The price of telling the truth in a world of lies...

Sad but true...

Yup, mad world we live in, where criminals have the power and truth is besieged by liars.

How many rapes went unsolved because of this misallocation of police resources?

Yup, wasted useless eaters paid for by tax coercive taxation...

Trump should pardon him. meme3.jpg

Well you need to be convicted of something or a pardon to happen :/

Not in America ;) Nixon was pardoned though he was not indicted nor convicted of any crimes.

Very good
