A 3 Ball Sunset

Kasilof RIver Beach park area. We almost did not make it down to the Inlet in time. On the way home from a pretty nice soup there was a little bit of color in the sky. It has been quite some time since we were able to get a nice sunset picture. Mostly a lot of clouds and rains as of late. So not quite as nice as when we were driving here we go.

This first one is from my smartphone. It was taken at 4:48 PM Alaska time. Yep it is getting dark early. In low light conditions the phones do pretty good, neither picture really reveals how the sunset really looked, but pretty close.

We never really did see the Sun during the sunset. this next image is from my Nikon Camera. I had on the landscape lens. With the speed of the sunset, I took a few hand held shots at various speeds and ISO settings. Then I took a couple with the flash on at various ISO settings also. The sunset was just so fast I did not feel like I had time to set the tripod up, plus it was a little bit cold, not bad at 33 F with no breeze, but time was important.

So this image was taken at 4:57 PM, with the flash set to auto, f-stop 5.6, ISO 500 and speed of 1/250 sec. Of the 12 shots taken I think this one came out the best.

The smartphone shot was cropped to make it a similar size as the Camera image, both images were then resized for upload and no other editing was done. Thus ended a pretty nice weekend for me, it was an enjoyable one I hope yours was also. The soup of the day was White Bean Chicken Chili, it was pretty tasty, and one bowl came home with us for a small meal to have for lunch tomorrow.
