Although there may be many who haven't read, but surely I have often heard this one book title: Kamasutra. This book is arguably the most famous sex book in the world. But if you look a little deeper into the history and origins of this paper, the reputation actually seems to be inappropriate.

Written by a Hindu priest from India named Mallanaga Vatsyayana in 300 BC, one part of the book written in ancient Sanskrit does indeed contain positions of sexual relations which ultimately are identical to the title. But yes it's actually just one chart. Maybe it's so controversial that this very detailed explanation, only this part is remembered by the reader. Actually there are many other facts that are no less surprising and have not been exposed to Kamasutra. This time Hipwee News & Feature will explore these facts!

  • During this time, maybe everyone is wrong with Kamasutra. The main discussion of this book is not sex, but life

Since it was first translated in English in 1883 by a British writer named Sir Richard Francis Burton, this book has indeed captured the world's attention. ‘Kama’ is one of the life goals taught in Hinduism, namely rat desire ’. Whereas ‘Sutra‘ means manual or instructions for doing something. Now one of the desires referred to in this book is indeed sexual desire. But there are also other desires discussed in Kamasutra.

In addition to the second chapter on sexual desire, this book contains manuals for living and determining life priorities, gaining knowledge, human unity in marriage, and the relationship of men and women as a whole. So in short this book is a guide for humans to get ‘Kama‘ or desires in life. So as not only to be immersed in material life, but also to be able to explore spiritual satisfaction.

  • If calculated, the chart that contains sex positions is only 20% of the total content

That fact seems to need to be lifted because almost all people in this world consider Kamasutra only as a sex book. There are also many who immediately judge, "I've been able to read books like that, really loathsome!". Even if you understand the context, Kamasutra is more than just a sex book or pervert. It's hard to change the inherent image of a century ago. But yes at least now we know the facts.

  • Although famous for writing manuals on how to get sexual satisfaction, Vatsyayana turned out to be a pastor who claimed to have never had sex. Lah !?

Vatsyayana is a Hindu priest who lived in the area of North India in the third century AD How come and why did he write Kamasutra? Now a lot of folklore circulates about this.

But it seems that Vatsyayana wrote or more precisely collected various 'sexual knowledge' which was passed down from time to time in India, as a form of self meditation. It's kind of to test your self-commitment so maybe huh? But there are also those who say that Vatsyayana compiled Kamasutra at the behest of the king because many Indian women at that time were not satisfied with their domestic life. Regardless of what the motivation was, the author of Kamasutra apparently had never had sexual relations. Interesting huh

  • Even more interesting, Kamasutra turned out to be called by some as a 'feminist book', you know. Why? Because all the points written always prioritize the interests and satisfaction of women

Want it to be a guide to fulfilling sexual desires or other desires in life, women's interests always seem to be put forward in this book. In his discussion of male-female relations also generally emphasized things such as ways to treat women well. To the extent that many people believe that Kamasutra might be a veiled feminist book, like the BBC has discussed.

Sexuality is indeed inseparable from human life. Many also say that instinct or sexual desire is the most primitive and natural thing about human beings. So even though it is still taboo in various world cultures, discussions about sexuality are always relevant and inviting attention. So from that it is not surprising that Kamasutra could be this selegendaris as the world sex book. But yes it turns out there are still many interesting facts that are hidden because people are more focused on looking at sex positions only.
