ARROWHOLD - 51052 Rain (Previous)
“A giant sparrow!”
Leora’s mouth falls wide open from astonishment.
“That is what you want me to fly on? A huge SPARROW?”
Mystic chuckles softly, but Tanamarana remains resolute.
“Sure, underestimate her as others underestimate you. It matters not to me. Will you ride her?”
Leora returns a baffled gaze, while Cyor turns to Leora.
“Surely you can give it a try?”, Cyor tries to add in subtly.
Leora laughs: “No way! Absolutely not!”
Meanwhile, Mystic’s gaze trails off into the distance.
“Oh Core, we’ve got it wrong! Look over there”
Tanamarana looks at her companion. Mystic points towards a set of cliffs about half a mile out.
“What are those? Dragons?”, Tanamarana replies in fear.
“I don’t know, but we have no time for training. We must fight now.”, Mystic responds hastily before running off to mobilize Arrowhold.
As twelve wood dragons rapidly swoop the valley, clenching burning torches in their claws, the citizens of Arrowhold hastily make their way up to the palisades.
Mystic looks at the archers. He expected fourty, but only sixteen have made it up so far.
“No time to waste. Archers, Knock, Ready, wait…”
The dragons now fly rapidly towards the town wall, releasing the torches.
“Wait…”
The torches hit the palisade, causing explosions on impact. Meanwhile, the dragons turn around to return.
“FIRE!!”
The sixteen archers release their arrows, and manage to hit the bellies of five of the wooden dragons. However, they seem to be entirely undisturbed by the arrows that are now lodged into their bellies.
Mystic’s face pales with fear.
“What is happening here?”
In the meantime, the torches have set fire to the palisade, which now begins to burn and smoke profusely. Tanamarana opens the town gate and rapidly walks out of the battlements. As she looks to the cliffs and paths below, she notices several platoons of soldiers making their way up to Arrowhold, led by the Sork Officer Mirk’tanin. As the soldiers and their captain approach Arrowhold, the green witch begins to chant.
Just behind the burning walls, Leora and Cyor stand next to each other witnessing the dramatic fall.
“Do you think we should help?” Cyor asks with hesitation.
Leora stares outside through the main gate. She observes how the wooden dragons have replenished in the distance, and are now turning back for a second assault.
“They’ve let us live, and we need allies to survive Cyor.”, Leora replies, “I think we have no choice.”.
“I see. Then I will do what I can.”. Cyor adds, as he gets out his bow. Having observed the failures from the archers on the wall, he proceeds to soak his arrows in fire, using some leftover oil in the courtyard and the very blaze on the town wall.
Meanwhile, Leora runs towards Sparrow and grabs her three spears.
“Well little bird, let’s see how you’re going to embarrass me.”
The giant sparrow extends her wing, allowing Leora to quickly climb on her back. In a matter of less than a second she shoots off, nearly shaking off her rider due to the sudden momentum.
“What-”
Leora gets slinged back and only with great effort manages to hold on to the brown bird, as it quickly shoots towards the dragons. Shortly after, she manages to regain her seating, and prepares herself for a fight against twelve dragons.
