Travel around Kazakhstan

Canyon Charyn (Charyn Canyon) is sometimes called the "younger brother" of Grand Canyon. But the "younger" it can only be called because of the size (the Grand Canyon in the state of Colorado, the United States is much larger), but it is more than offset by the stunning beauty of the natural complex. Each country has its own natural wonders. And there are many of them in Kazakhstan. One of the most famous and beautiful natural attractions - Charyn Canyon, located on the spurs of the Tien Shan, near the border with China. He will not leave anyone indifferent, touching invisible strings in his soul and forcing him to come back again and again ... No description of the Charyn canyon, not even the most high-quality photo, conveys the amazing picture that comes before the eyes of travelers who come every year to admire him Incredible "architecture."

The best time to visit the Charyn canyon is spring (late March - May) and autumn, when it is not very hot (in summer the temperature reaches +39), but if you are not afraid of the heat - you can go in the summer.

How to get to the Charyn canyon from Almaty by car. Here is the map how to get there from Almaty. On the Kuldzhinsk highway, after about 110 km at the fork in the village of Chilik (Shelek), turn right, after 165 km. There will be another fork, to the left in Chunji, and to Charyn canyon - to the right. Having reached the village of Kokpek in 20-25 km you will need to find a turn to the left. There should be a shield with the inscription "Charyn Canyon". By minibus. The best option for a group of 7-11 people. The order of a minibus will cost more than a trip on a big bus, but the road will be more comfortable and quick. The big tourist bus. This is the most budgeted version of the excursion. Many Almaty travel agencies offer weekend tours from Almaty to the Charyn Canyon. Call in any. Excursions usually start at the intersection of Satpayev-Baytursynov streets (opposite Astana International hotel). The cost of the trip came out at 2500 tenge. You can get there by public transport. From Almaty from the bus station "Sayakhat" there can be reached by buses going to Kegen or Narynkol. The ticket price is about 1 000 tenge. Buses go in the morning, so you need to arrive at the bus station early by seven o'clock. You need to ask the driver to stop at the turn to the Charyn canyon and then walk 10 km along the steppe. At the weekend in this place a busy movement, someone will pick you up. In addition to the above methods, there are very very extreme: On foot (from the exit from the highway), by bike, by hitchhiking (on weekends on the highway, a lively traffic, many go there).

In addition to the canyon, I visited many other interesting places in Kazakhstan. The views are stunning.

You can get to Medeu by bus. It's not far from the city. Also, I recommend to go to the area of the Big Almaty Lake. In Kyrgyzstan, I was also. Be sure to go to the Issyk-Kul lake, there are beautiful places

Thank you! Regarding Kyrgyzstan, actually you got me right: Issyk-Kul is the main place I want to visit there.
