K-Boppin': Girl Group Bop'mination!!

in #kboppin7 years ago

Hey K-Boppin' Steemiters!

This week has been a really good week in Lonnie's K-Pop world as I've been thoroughly enjoying many good music vibes. Currently Girl Groups are domination the Lonnie-charts, and so here are 5 songs/music videos I can't stop listening to right now:

BBoom BBoom - Momoland

Momoland is a girl group that debuted late 2016 and I honestly have not heard of them until this song put them at the top of my recommended list and it's so catchy!! Upbeat, quirky and fun dance moves - a recipe Lonnie loves! This song is currently putting Momoland on the top K-pop scene as they won their first win on a music show this past week. The point of dance for this song is totally my favorite, it looks easy...but it's not, well not for me but it's still just crazy fun to dance to! I love seeing girl groups move away from the super cute concepts or sexy concepts, yay for girls just want to have fun!

Oh Boy - Red Velvet

Oh Boy is actually an older song from Red Velvet's 1st mini album 'The Red' released back in September of 2015. Oh Boy was not a promoted song though and I also did not get hooked onto Red Velvet until their Russian Roulette era so that explains my miss. I like the sounds of Oh Boy as the girls sing about their beginnings of a relationship and falling for a boy and his dazzling smile. It's catchy and cute, and just makes me think of those beginning fuzzy feelings where you can't stop smiling. Ah! Young love!

Loona

Loona finally has fallen onto my radar! And I'm left wondering why I haven't hopped onto the Loona-train earlier. Maybe it's like a show I need to binge watch and I've been waiting for the last few episodes to start binge watching.

Loona was a setup I was first confused about, they have 12 girls in this girl group; however, as part of their debut project each girl is debuted each month with her own solo and they are combined into sub-units as well. But that's not everything! These music videos are released in a series almost like a new episode to their own Loona-verse. It's a story so intricately put together that I've loved watching all the fan theory videos on how everything is slowly revealed even more with each new music video.

Whoever is putting this together is just pure genius. <-- That's in bold ladies & gentlemen, BOLD. Not only is each music video connected but each music video is so brilliantly put together it can stand on a high level on it's own. It was really hard to pick just one. Because I have a few I need to rave about...

Sweet Crazy Love - Loona: Odd Eye Circle

So, small fan theory background: the Loona-verse is assumed to exist as a Mobius strip. The first 4 girls that debuted live in the world we believe to be as normal, the next 3 girls are named under the sub-unit of "Odd Eye Circle" as they are the girls that exist on the place of the Mobius strip where it turns and can exist on both sides of the Mobius strip.

Sweet Crazy Love is what I think is the beginning of how Odd Eye Circle came together, like being called to their magical girl dancing powers. 😂I think I picked this one over Girl Front because I enjoy the ambiguity behind this music video.

New - Loona: Yves

Beautiful beautiful Yves. Yves is the 9th member to debut and right from the beginning you see Loona's signature logo going in the opposite direction to indicate the opposite side of the Mobius strip, a backwards world. This song is about being yourself no matter what, and in symbolism world "Yves" sounds close to "Eve". I saw in a fan theory they pointed out how Yves in this video is always shown at a higher place looking down always contemplating whether or not to drop the apple. Then when you see her bite into the apple clips of her 'hanging with the boys' and dressed in "rebellious" clothing appears.

Heart Attack - Loona: Chuu

Man, I only limit myself to 5 songs for each post, so this last one was a hard one but I decided to go with Chuu! Chuu is the latest member to debut in December, as the 10th member of the group. She's just so DARN CUTE! I love how throughout the entire music video she's like "Yves...Yves...look at me, look at me...wait, yes look at me!" Yes our love interest in member #9 from above, Yves.

Some things to note, the apple theme comes to play again in this music video. As a green apple it may relate to Chuu's innocent behavior depicting a not yet ripe apple. The book Yves is reading is a novel called "Aphrodite Means Death" by John APPLEby.

I'm in love with this music video simply because of Chuu, her behavior is absolutely adorable and how can you not fall in love with that face? Yves please pay attention to Chuu!

There we have it! 5 of my favorite K-pop songs at the moment! I'm normally not into a lot of girl groups so I'm actually pretty excited to see all the girl domination popping onto my repeat list.

Are you a K-Popper too? Whats your current Bop?

Thanks for reading!! ❤️
