(1) How to tell Female from Male Seeds
Female papaya trees means papaya. Male trees only produce pollen that fertlize the female plants. I grow a ratio of one male to 10 - 15 female. Knowing how to tell female from male seeds helps save a farmer time and effort during planting and early plant life.
So how does one do it? When you cut open a papaya, you'll notice some seeds are black (dark) others are green (lighter shade). The black one are female
