VP of Engineering at GoDaddy and ex-Director of Software Development at Expedia
For the past two decades Jeanie Zheng has gained a reputation for building successful software products and services for an impressive range of technology companies, including Microsoft, IBM, Yahoo!, Motorola, Expedia and GoDaddy.
But it was in 2014, while Director of Software Development at Expedia, that she began turning heads in the cryptoverse when she became the driving force for the travel technology giant to begin accepting cryptocurrency payments for travel bookings. It was a big step for the company, a major vote of confidence for the technology, and an important milestone for the sector, ultimately paving the way for more widespread adoption and implementation of cryptocurrencies in the modern retail space.
Now, we’re excited to announce that Jeanie is bringing her unique vision and leadership to KeyoCoin as our technology advisor. An important role at an important time for the company, as we develop the technological infrastructure for what will soon become the world’s first universal travel rewards program to be live and fully integrated with an expansive travel marketplace.
Our mission at KeyoCoin is ambitious, but simple. We are building a new breed of travel ecosystem, where independent travel and hospitality businesses and adventure-seeking travelers can find each other in an open and fair marketplace, and then conduct peer-to-peer value exchange free from punitive commissions and fees.
The blockchain has a simple but fundamental role in this ecosystem: firstly, to provide the autonomous booking engine, free from heavy-handed centralized control, and secondly, to arm independent travel businesses with the tools they need to attract and reward customers, while incentivizing travelers to get more from their travel experiences.
At the heart of this ecosystem, providing fuel for the network, is KeyoCoin, the universal rewards token. This blockchain-based incentivization tool is designed to close the incentive loop for merchants, consumers, and developers, allowing them to reward each other for completing revenue-generating actions or exhibiting behaviors that benefit the community.
We’ve already built the marketplace, complete with thousands of tours, activities and local experiences, and launched it in seven countries (with more on the way soon). Jeanie joins us as we embark on the next milestone, creating the blockchain-based KeyoCoin booking engine and rewards platform that utilizes DLT and smart contracts to automate the flow of transactions in the ecosystem. It’s an exciting chapter, and our development teams are delighted to have Jeanie’s expertize on board to help us navigate the crucial months to come.
Here’s what Jeanie had to say about coming aboard:
“I’ve been extremely impressed by the KeyoCoin team. It’s clear that their unique rewards-centric approach has what it takes to disrupt the status quo in the industry, for the good of travelers as well as hospitality, tour and local experience providers. It’s not every day you come across a startup with the ambition to take on the tech giants currently dominating distribution in the travel space, while also having the creativity and technical capability to follow through on those ambitions.”
Welcome to the KeyoCoin family Jeanie!
