The other night, I took Jacob to one of his friend's birthday parties, which was at an indoor children's play center.
The play center is in our city, and we have been there a few other times before - Jacob is a big fan. I had a little bit of a hard time getting my head around the concept of paying $10 to play indoors when you can play at home with tons of toys or outdoors for free. However, after being there the first time, I definitely found the cost was worth it.
This particular play center has about 10 "rooms" where they have a theme to the room. The goal is for the kids to expand their imagination, be active, and socialize with others. They specialize in play for kids with autism, as the activities are really helpful them. The rooms change occasionally, but examples include a train room, a sandbox room, a doctor's office room, a coffee shop room, a grocery market room, an outer space room, craft room, etc. In the middle of the center is a stage with instruments, microphones and costumes for kids to have some fun.
Jacob always enjoys the train room the most - he loves building tracks and incorporating cranes, railroad crossings, bridges, etc into the track and then will run the cars around the track for a long time. He also enjoyed the sandbox room, which was dinosaur themed this time, and they had dinosaurs hidden in the first for the kids to try and find. I was surprised by how much Jacob also enjoyed the grocery store room - he took a cart around and picked up whatever fruits, vegetables or meats I told him was on our "list" and then checked out with a credit card... ha!
Overall, if you have kids in between the ages of 2-10 and can find an indoor children's play center in your area, I would recommend checking them out. I find it is fun for Jacob to play with new things, use his imagination, and run around with other kids for a little bit!
Thanks for stopping by,
Brian
Thank you for posting @brian.rrr.
He looks like he is having a lovely time at his friend's birthday party....he just seems to enjoy himself where ever he goes.
All the bestto you and your family. Cheers.
Seems he is having great fun
Nice one. I'm pretty sure Jacob had fun as I can see on the picture..
Sometimes, it's good to take our kids out to experience life, socialize with fellow kids of different character and same character cos it gives an unforgettable memories and impression that life could be easier and simple. It also helps open the mind to think outside the box.
This has a good effect in adults cos it helps calm depression. I noticed it cos each time I get depressed or bored, I just take few cents and take myself out and have fun with new friends I meet there.
I noticed, most of the introverted friends I have right now are people who never experienced that kind of life while going up so it tends to make them shy cos they were not exposed.
Thanks for doing it for Jacob.
Great thoughts... thank you for sharing!

its important for me
Exellent work - paradise for children's
great place..i wish there were such places at my side to as its very difficult to keep the kids at home all the time
Yes, our children also enjoy such indoor playgrounds. But I think that the children in nature are actually even better supported and challenged. But the boy seems to be enjoying the game, so everything was done right.
That sounds awesome! I haven't heard of anything like that around here, but I like the idea a lot! It is kind of like the Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood to Chuck-E-Cheese's Sesame Street. I think kids should be introduced to quieter and more imaginative play, especially at an early age.
this kid is so sweet :)
I wish so much that we had a place like this...the only play areas we have is at the mall. But sadly they only allow under 5 years, so my 7 year can't play.
Dear Brian,
Thank you for sharing this! I hope I will find such an amusing indoor play centres for children in Finland too.
All the best,
Sulimur family
