Six Weeks of Summer - Week 5: Exploring the Tower of London (Vlog)

Historical landmark

I've wanted to take the kids to Tower of London for a while and for some reason I have been putting it off. However the school holidays are almost over so I thought now was as good a time as any to explore this historical landmark of London.

Travelling back in time

The kids had a history lesson without actually realising it.....which made me feel better about the fact that we haven't actually done any of the homework that I planned on doing with them!...They really got into the historical re-enactment. So much so that they wanted to be part of it!

Top tips on visiting with kids

Watch my vlog for a snapshot of things that kids will be interested in the Tower of London. I've also noted down a few tips here:

Top of the list are Raven spotting, the Crown Jewels, armoury in the White Tower, Edward I living quarters, the historical re-enactment outside the White Tower and the models of beasts dotted around. If your kids have the patience then go on a tour for more detailed info on all of the above.

Do purchase a kids guide book and pick up the kids activity booklet, pencil and badge from the visitors centre.

There are places to eat inside the Tower of London and just outside it. But if you bring a packed lunch there are lots of benches where you can sit and eat it outside.

It's not a particularly pushchair friendly place as there are loads of cobbled streets and steps. So bring a lightweight stroller and get someone to help you.

If you are a resident of Tower Hamlets then you can get in for just a pound. Take your idea store cards or proof of address.

It's definitely worth a visit.
