How fussy kids have become?

in #kids7 years ago

I remember the time when we would eat whatever was served on the supper table. We would dare complain . If we did, we would be told to leave the table and sleep hungry.

In today's time kids have become extremely fussy. I am thinking why? This is what I have come up with.

1. Parents are becoming 'wimps'. Kids have to much authority, and parents are afraid of saying NO.

2. Advertising , commercial companies are only interested in making money.  Food manufacturers are using more and more sugar and salt. So kids will definitely choose the unhealthy alternative .

3.To keep the peace Parents think its ok to eat junk foods in """"""""moderation"""""""""

Here are my 3  solutions I came up with.

1.  Learn to say NO .

2.Don't buy any snacks

3. Learn to say NO

haha, simple and effective solutions. Still... if any thinks these are superficial then I encourage any to start reading more into this, especially when it comes to kids, their need for security and authority, and thus... their education.

e.g. here is one such book :) - https://www.amazon.com/Boundaries-Kids-Children-Control-Their/dp/0310243157

Trying to force children to eat food that is healthy is also not the answer because they also then label the healthy food as "Chore" food and the junk food as "Reward" food.

Parents need to limit the amount of junk food that they buy for their children and not use them in the form of Rewards or to shut the child up (As is normally the case)

Also limiting the amount of adverts the child can see can also help but that would require a limit to the amount of TV...etc they watch.

It is a big problem and it does not help matters that children are one of the main groups to market towards because they are easy to impress and the faster the child gets hooked on sugar junk, the faster they will want more of it.

It requires a hands on approach and the parents must also lead the way in this area as well. Can a parent deny themself junk food, sugar, choc...etc so that their child does not follow in their footsteps?

Lead by example, I say and that can be harder then it seems when the sugar cravings kick in.

UPVOTED.
