Four people, including an eight-year-old boy, died in a fire that broke out in an apartment building in Mumbai's Marol. The fire broke out on the third storey of the Maimoon building in Marol, Andheri.
Most of the building's residents managed to escape the blaze, but four - all from the same family - could not be rescued. Eye-witnesses spoke about hearing cries of 'help-help', but said they could not be saved.
Eight fire tenders were sent to the spot and the fire was contained soon after it first broke out.
The fire, which broke out on the third floor of , is believed to have been caused by a short-circuit; detailed investigation into the cause of the blaze is yet to be carried out.
Of the four who died, two were children - a 15-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy. Seven other people were critically injured in the fire; they were taken to Mumbai's Cooper and Mukund hospitals.
Some of the eye-witnesses to the fire said the Mumbai Fire Brigade did not arrive at the spot on time.
