Whale watching is big business in the Pacific Northwest, we have both transient and resident populations of orca's in the waters off of British Columbia.
While out with one of the companies one afternoon, we came across a pod of residents. We stop the boat and waited for them to pass. Luckily enough I managed to capture this one just after it blew. The sun caught the mist and created a perfectly timed rainbow.
I was a beautiful day on the water.

Once I was going out to San Juan Island and riding the WA St ferry. Part way to Friday Harbor, the boat slows to a stop. The captain came on the mic and said that there were of Orcas crossing in front of the boat, so we had to stop. Sure enough, a pod of them swam right by. I took pictures from the top deck. It was awesome! All told, we had to wait an extra 15 minutes, but it was worth it.
Lucky! Hopefully I’ll see some one day.
