HABIB Teupin Wan is the full name of Sayid Abdurrahman bin Hasan Asseqaf. Born in Gampong Ateuk Mukim XXVI Aceh Besar (Meunasah Papeun, red), nearly 38 years old Habib fought against Dutch colonialism. He died in the Tangse mountains. However, although most of his age was spent against colonialism, his name seemed to be drowning in Aceh's history.

"Habib Teupin Wan is a true hero, who is willing to sacrifice lives and possessions to free Aceh from colonialism," said Sayed Murtadha Alaydrus, M.Sc, a speaker at the Seminar on the Role and Contribution of the Sayyid Group in the Aceh War in the Mini Thater Room of PKP2A LAN Building Banda Aceh, last Saturday.

It is said that Murtadha who is also Chairman of Aceh's Ashraf, in 1873 was the beginning of his struggle. A dayah in Meunasah Ara (Lancok Baroh), Bandar Dua Subdistrict, Pijay, was also established to wage a struggle in the field of education. Habib was martyred after a fierce battle between the marsose troops led by Colonel Schemidt on Eid al-Fitr, 29 September 1911. Habib Teupin Wan's son, Habib Muhammad Asseqaf, was even more martyred on May 21, 1910. He was martyred with Tgk's son Chik di Tiro, Tgk Beb, who both fought against the Dutch colonialism.

Sayed Murtada, Habib Teupin Wan is one of Aceh warlords. He also collaborated with Tgk Chik at Tiro against the invaders. History records, Tuanku Mahmud in a letter to Habib Teupin Wan on August 14, 1909 once called on Habib Teupin Wan, Teungku Mahyuddin, Tgk Dibukit Ibnu Tgk Chiek Ditiro, and others, to surrender to the Dutch. "However, Habib Teupin Wan along with other scholars disregarded the letter and continued to fight until the martyr," said Murtadha.

In the discussion guided by Irwan Adaby MA, the participants gave many inputs. Ramly Adali hopes Aceh's history is written as clear as possible. He also hopes that today's young people are learning a lot about history: Why is the 200-year-old Aceh Kingdom disappearing just like that. "All this time we are seen as an angry nation, not a clever nation," said retired from the Documentation and Information Center of Aceh. It is said that many other Arab and non-Arab descendants who work in the field of religion, education to plantation, deserve to be written as a learning for the younger generation. According to Ramly, one of the obstacles to writing history so far is the attitude of the family of the less open character. "They consider retelling the life of the character will reduce the reward for the concerned," he said. (sack)
