오메가 스피드마스터가 “문 워치” 라고 불리우는 이유/Why are some Omega Speedmasters called “moon watches”?

안녕하세요, 오늘은 “문 워치”라고 불리우는 오메가 스피드마스터가 왜 그 타이틀을 거머쥐게 되었는지 알려드리려 합니다.
Hi everyone, today I will discuss briefly about how the Omega Speedmaster obtained the title “moon watch.”

대충 이름만으로도 아시는 분이 계실거 같지만, 좀 더 설명하자면 1969년에 처음으로 인간이 달에 도착했을때 우주 비행사가 차고있던 시계가 오메가 스피드마스터였기 때문입니다.
You might have guessed correctly based on the title. But if I may elaborate further, the Speedmaster obtained the title because the first astronauts on the moon in 1969 wore the Speedmasters.

NASA가 오메가의 시계를 쓰게 된 이유는 1962년의 NASA의 관리아래 여러 브랜드의 (롤렉스, 브라이틀링, 오메가, 론진 등등) 시계들을 여러 조건아래 테스트 해본결과 오메가의 스피드마스터만 시험을 통과했기 때문이랍니다.
And there is a reason why the Omega’s Speedmaster was selected compared to other watches from prestigious brands. Under NASA’s supervision in 1962, watches from brands such as Rolex, Breitling, Omega, Longines, etc. were tested in extreme situations. Only the Omega’s Speedmaster managed to pass all the tests, and that was why Omega was chosen.

몇몇 실험 조건을 나열하자면,
섭씨 71-93도 까지의 고온, 영하 18도의 저온, 높은 습도, 고/저압력, 급가속, 충격 등등의 실험이였다고 합니다.
Some of the extreme conditions that the wristwatches had to go through included: high/low temperature (160-200F/0F), high humidity, high/low pressure, linear acceleration, shock, etc.

이후 스피드마스터 모델뒤에는 이렇게 유인 우주 미션용도로 쓰일수있다는 문구와 가장 처음 달에 도달한 시계 모델이라는 문구가 적혀있습니다.
And on the later Speedmaster models, one can find the engravings that the watches are flight qualified for manned space missions, and that this model is the first watch worn on the moon.
