Casper Labs was created by ADAPtive Holdings Ltd. a blockchian company focused on projects that use blockchain technology and have founded other businesses that utilize the blockchain.
They have raised twenty million dollars in funds enabling them to carry out research & development for the implementation of Casper.
CasperLabs goal is to launch Casper on a competitive blockchain. To accomplish this one of Ethereums lead developers Vlad Zamfir has been recruited.
CasperLabs believes that their blockchain will be able to handle thousands of transactions surpassing Ether.
To do this they plan to implement sidechains & sharding in their protocol that will distribute transactions among miners.
To make it easier for people or corporations to build DAPPS they have chosen the WebAssembly standard.
WebAssembly incorporates several programming languages that are familiar to developers.
Other blockchain have created their own programming language which means that a programmer will lose valuable time learning the specific programming language to build their DAPPS.
If they do not fully understand the programming language their final product might not be exactly what they envisioned.
Vlad Zamfir stated on CasperLabs press release on medium
that he hopes that his collaboration with CasperLabs will hold Ethereums feet to the fire making Ether realize that they should deploy Casper.
