지금 이 건물은 남미에서 가장 오래된 성당이다. 스페인이 처들어와 지은 건물로 전형적인 식민지 시절 남미의 건축 양식을 간직하고 있다. 또 신기한건 이 성당은 지진으로 한차례 무너졌다가 다시 복원되었다고 한다.
