If you can't expand the Hare Krishna movement at least maintain.
Don't change what I have given you.
Srila Prabhupada's instruction.
So expanding means more of same?
Not necessarily.
That is a kind of expansion... just replicate like a machine.
Or try to... without changing.
But expanding can mean something else.
Srila Prabhupada's use of English was very deep. He chose words many times that tapped into their less colloquial usage.
Take the word "expand."
The first definition is "become or make larger or more extensive."
But the second and more esoteric definition is: "give a fuller version or account of."
We see see continually in Srila Prabhupada's use of English. what to speak of his translations of the Sanskrit and Bengali texts. He is situated on the highest platform of realization and is able to extract the deeper meanings of the words. The devotional meanings.
So now when we look at his instruction, "If you cannot expand the movement, then just maintain what I have given. Don't change anything."
The word expand refers to not simply making bigger or broader but indicates deeper or fuller. The devotional level.
Check out Gaurahari Das's live sessions on Facebook. He is taking this instruction of Srila Prabhupada very seriously. "Expand the movement devotionally."
