Kung fu is something I know very little about. The first picture does remind me of the karate kid but I know it is quite different than this. Would kung fu be relevant to the UFC? There are many just jitsu and muay Thai fighters, but I cannot recall a fighter who was versed well in kung fu in the UFC who was successful. Maybe it is not a martial art suited for this sport?

While there are some Kung Fu practitioners that have competed in the UFC it is not common. Kung Fu is a traditional martial art. It is used to harden the body, mind and spirit. The style I teach is Northern Shaolin. Reference this for more info, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Shaolin_(martial_art)
So more of an exercise that can also be used to combat than a purely combative martial art?
Yes it's more of a life long art. It's is also a very dangerous art when executed correctly. ☻
Is this something that sometimes people can focus energy on and not be injured?
Yes that is the internal art of QiGong. That takes years to master.
