Hi guys...
I thought that maybe this would be interesting to the NFT lovers and maniacs (no offence) 😅. I've made a summary of the 10 most expensive NFT's sold so far and included some fun facts. For those who don't know what NFT's are, here goes... NFT's are blockchain tokens that offer a certificate of ownership, they cannot be copied and multiplied. They're non-fungible which basically means they are one of a kind. To put it simply, it's digital art on the blockchain. So let's find out, which are the most expensive NFT's ever sold. Hope you enjoy.
10: Hash Mask #9939 - $844.000 Thousand
If you own a Hash Mask you can name it anything you want. The hash mask website explains, "It encourages the consumer or rather the collective consumer to project their representation of value into the artwork". Naming it whatever you want, giving it a unique name eradicates the invisible line separating the creator and the consumer of the artwork. The owner of Hash Mask #9939 decided to name it "sex".
9: Crypto Punk #6487 - $1.05 Million
According to larvolabs.com a total of 3 840 female punks were created. 7 392 punks have been sold over the past year.If you're thinking of buying you need to look out for the following.

7: Crypto Punk #4156 - $1.25 Million
Yep you've guest it, it's another ape, which sold for 650 ethereum. It's amazing to think that although this art is sold as digital pieces ultimately that crypto punk formed part of an exhibition that took place in Switzerland in 2019. The exhibition was called "Perfect and Priceless. John Watkinson had been invited by Swiss Curator and digital art expert George Bak.
6: Crypto Punk #6965 - $1.54 Million
Another Crypto Punk ape. The differences between five and six are not so huge except for the headgear and around $300 000.
Here's a little more background on these Crypto Punks. Each image is 24 by 24 pixels the characters are from the early 90's Cypherpunks founded by Timothy C May and John Gilmore. Jude Milhan introduced the term and it was added to the Oxford Dictionary in 2006.
5: Jack Dorsey's First Tweet - $2.5 Million
Jack Dorsey is currently selling the NFT to that tweet and the last bid update put it at 2.5 million dollars. It's being sold on Valuables, an NFT auction site. Once sold the proceeds will be converted to bitcoin and donated to the @GiveDirectly Africa fund charity. The lucky owner will receive a digital certificate of the tweet.
4: Crossroad By Beeple - $6.6 Million
Beeple who's real name is Mike Winkelmann created this NFT, titled “Crossroad.” It represents former President Trump lying in a heap after losing the 2020 presidential election. During December 2020 he sold $582,000 worth of crypto art in just five minutes, part of a $2.2 million haul in just three days. Today Beeple is one of the biggest NFT's artists out there.
**3: Crypto Punk #7804 - $7.57 Million **
An alien Crypto Punk with small shades a pipe and a forward-facing cap. This teal-coloured punk set a record for the highest amount paid for a Punk. Cryptoslam was first purchased in 2018 for 12 ethereum and went up for sale in February 2021 and sold for 4 200 ethereum. You as the buyer get the digital rights to resell, distribute or license the digital asset as you please.
**2: Crypto Punk #3100 - $7.58 Million **
Another teal-coloured alien that sold for 4200 ethereum or around 7.6 million dollars. This headbanded version was sold on the 11th of March and when this Crypto Punk was last transacted in July 2017 it went for a paltry 8 ethereum or just over 2 000 dollars. This is one of the many attractive features of NFT's, you can decide what value to give your NFT.
**1: Everydays: The First 5000 Days - $69.4 Million **
This digital piece has made headlines globally it sold for 69.4 million dollars and even creator Mike Winkelmann aka Beeple couldn't believe his ears when he heard the sale price, he was pretty shocked.

Wow, very interesting list!
I read about Jack Dorsey's selling his NFT for over 2 million dollars but I had no idea that there was more expensive stuff being sold.

Yes, I still find it difficult to understand the insane amounts of money people are willing to pay for these NFT's. It's crazy...
I don't understand their taste for NFTs. I don't understand how #10 is "sex" and it is the only one under a million dollars.

Crypto Punk seems to be doing very well...and for what.
Hell those look like nothing more than display graphics on an old Commodore 64.
Amazing what people will spend money on.

What we have here (IMO) is that a lot of old school "geeks" have a lot of "free money" (old mined bitcoins, which were virtually free) and they also have a huge void where most people have at least a bit of a refined sense of taste and style.
Either that or it's just a marketing ploy and these non-artists have laundered the funds back to themselves thru shell accounts 🤣
