A favourite for families in the area, the beach at Dog's Bay in Co. Galway is particularly beautiful. Seen here in panoramic at sunset.
Dog's Bay is a tombolo, where two islands have naturally been joined together and the mainland by a sand spit. The result is a spectacular pair of bays, well sheltered from the sea and a safe place for water activities or just walking and admiring the view.
Dog's Bay on the left is the better of the two beaches. It is nearly a mile long and is made up of sand and crushed seashells, which give the beach its white colour. The bay/beach on the right is known as Gurteen Bay.
