Warriors Of The Rainbow

One day after work and riding on the ferry, I was fortunate enough to catch this rainbow. Most of us for some strange reason are very attracted to these lovely arches, and probably for many different reasons.

Some cultures have little faeries waiting at the end of that rainbow promising riches. Others have a goddess named Iris bringing a special message. There are many things I feel when I see a rainbow, some of which tell me I am on the right track.

Personally, a different thought comes quickly to mind and is the Native American prophecy of the Rainbow Warriors. Prophecy says:

Last century an old wise woman of the Indian nation, named Eyes of Fire had a vision of the future. She prophesied that one day, because of Yo-ne-gis' greed, there would come a time, when the earth being ravaged and polluted; the forests destroyed, the birds would fall from the air, the waters blackened, the fish being poisoned, and the trees would no longer be, mankind near extinction. There would b a time when the "keepers of the legend, stories, culture rituals, and myths, and all the customs would be needed to restore us to health, making the earth green again. They would be mankind's key to survival, they were the Warriors of the Rainbow. There would come a day of awakening when all the peoples of all the tribes would form a New World of Justice, Peace, Freedom and recognition of the Great Spirit.

The Warriors of the Rainbow would spread these messages and teach all peoples of "Elohi". They would teach them how to live the Way of the Great Spirit. They would tell them of how the world today has turned away from the Great Spirit and that is why our Earth is sick.

The Warriors of the Rainbow would show the peoples that Great Spirit, is full of love and understanding, and teach them how to make the Elohi beautiful again. These Warriors would give the people principles or rules to follow to make their path light with the world. These principles would be those of the ancients. The Warriors of the Rainbow would teach the people of the ancient practices of unity, love, and understanding. They would teach of harmony among people in all four corners earth.

Like the ancients, they would teach the peoples how to pray to the Great Spirit with love that flows like the beautiful mountain stream, and the path to the ocean of life. Once again, they would be able to feel joy in solitude and in councils. They would feel happiness enter their hearts, and become as one with the entire human race. Their hearts would be pure and radiate warmth, understanding and respect for all mankind, nature, with Great Spirit.

People will fill their minds, hearts, souls, and deeds with the purest of thoughts. They would find strength and beauty in prayer and the solitude of life. Their children would once again be able to run free and enjoy the treasures of nature and mother earth. Free from the fears of toxins and destruction, brought by the Yo-ne-gi and his practices of greed. The rivers would again run clear, the forests be abundant and beautiful, the animals and birds would be replenished. The powers of the plants and animals would again be respected and conservation of all that is beautiful would become a way of life.

The poor, sick and needy would be cared for by their brothers and sisters of earth. These practices would again become a part of daily life.

The leaders of the people would be chosen in the old way - those who demonstrated their love, wisdom and courage and those who showed that they could and did work for the good of all, would be chosen as the leaders or Chiefs. Like the thoughtful and devoted ancient chiefs, they would understand people with love, and see that the young are educated with the love and wisdom of their surroundings. They would show them that miracles can be accomplished to heal this world of its ills, and restore it to health and beauty.

The tasks of these Warriors of the Rainbow are many and great. There will be terrifying mountains of ignorance to conquer and they shall find prejudice and hatred. They must be dedicated, unwavering in their strength, and strong of heart. They will find willing hearts and minds that will follow them on this road of returning Mother Earth to beauty and plenty.

That day will come, and it is not far away.

On that day we shall see how we owe our very existence to the people of all tribes that have maintained their culture and heritage. Those that have kept the rituals, stories, legends and myths alive. It will be with this knowledge, the knowledge that they have preserved, that we shall once again return to harmony with nature, Mother Earth and mankind. It will be with this knowledge that we shall find our key to survival.

I hope you enjoyed reading this prophecy! Disclaimer: this is oral history and will be reflected in many similar tales from Native American tribes across America. Each tribe has their own interpretation but the underlying meaning remains the same. Peace.

Thank you for this telling of the story. I have heard it told by others too.
It instills hope in me.

interesting. i appreciate you stopping by and even more interesting that you have heard this told. are you native american? typically this is only told amongst my people.

Sometimes we need to be reminded of the extraordinary wisdom of indigenous folk, who dedicated their lives to showing the lost people their way.
You are one such Rainbow Warrior @eaglespirit

interesting you feel this way! this is the part that first caught my attention about you, and in only that you seem very sure. true, i doubt sometimes that is my own hiccup. i thank you for your kind confirmation. blessings

I have a very strong connection to Hopi Indian philosophy, messages and shamanism. It comes out in my retreats, when doing shamanic breathwork.
Blessings back!

well, many may feel it but typically what is connected is only within the tribe. also, native americans do not condone shamanism. i've explained this in many of my prior posts. also, breathe work is a part of many cultures, i practice some tao. thanks for the exchange

Yes, an unfortunate choice of words on my part to use "shamanism." Perhaps the person is best described as one who is an intermediary between the everyday natural world and the unseen world?
There is a certain liability of being brought up in a Western culture and their limited beliefs and history, which is why I moved to Asia 25 years ago.
Not only was I attracted by your name, but also the innate wisdom you share.
So I have much to learn from you @eaglespirit and welcome any corrections to my thinking.

no worries and i didnt mean the explanation to be forceful, just fact. :)
many people seem to use these words and feelings in association and well its not easy to explain.
i wish you a great night and blessed week.

I have heard this story too. It gives us hope for the future. For without hope we have nothing.

Are you native american? as i mentioned above, typically those not of a tribe are not shared too many details. well, it does speak of something quite a bit deeper. maybe that is the part most have not heard of, but i'm still interested to know where people are hearing the prophecy. this comes from my people the Hopi, and from what i can see from your blog you originally came from canada and are now in central america.

I am not Native American. But I had the honour to grow up with A Native American elder. He was my adoptive grandfather.

interesting! what tribe was he from? my father is an elder.

I think he was Hopi. He was born in the states and came to Canada as a young married man. I was young when he died in a car crash. I remember loving him very much. He was my rock in an abusive family.

thank you for sharing your experience

Thats so beautiful over the bridge

thanks so much!! :)
