Sandy Blues, a Beach on the Arabian Seaside – Landscape Photography

in #landscapephotography7 years ago (edited)

This scene depicts what you might expect to see on the Arabian Peninsula – lots of blue sky and lots of sand.

Hot ‘n’ dry ‘n’ stony

Situated on the southeast corner of the Arabian Peninsula, the country of Oman is mostly desert, with only sparse vegetation. In fact, much of the interior is covered with gravel desert, making it a not-very-alluring destination for a day’s outing. Only with the summer monsoon rains does the greenery become even a bit lush.

Sandy ‘n’ blue

The environment on the coastal plains, however, can be much more inviting and pleasant. Certain areas along the coast are lined with coconut palms and a variety of shrubs. And, inevitably, there are the long, expansive beaches, such as this one just outside the capital Muscat.

Here, the blue sky and the tan rocks, the blue water and the sandy beach – all contrast pleasantly, providing an ideal place to relax and cool down from the region’s merciless heat.

Close-up of boys in shallow water far from shore.

Because of the long, gentle incline of the beach, you have to walk out 50 meters or more before the water is deep enough to swim in. Location – Oman, on Google Maps This is my entry in @juliank’s Landscape Photography contest.

It’s a good exercise, when you have to first before swimming. We have a beach like that here in the Philippines. Like on Camotes Island still part of Cebu.

Ya, and if you want extra-tough exercise, you could jog for about 100 meters thru the water.

As for me, I'll just wade slowly. ☺

Ok, fine fine. We got it, you like to go to the beach!
If you visit Sicily, the colors are not that different.
(It is completely unrelated but I want to go to Oman at some point!)

One of the main messages I try to convey on this platform is that .... I like to go to the beach.

So far, I think I've achieved some success. But, that just drives me to continue preaching.

p.s. Oman is hot. Very hot.

Any sea I see, I feel as being home, as I grew up on the cost side of Adriatic sea. :) I like sandy beaches but sometimes rocky goes perfect with sea as well.

Yep. Like this photo of Waves on Rocks, which I posted 2 months ago. Hope you like it, too. I grew up by a slow, muddy river in Canada, and now I love the seaside!

Nice, thanks!

the sky is so clear, no sign of any cloud!!
what about the temperature of water?? I heard the temperature over there is so high.

I do not recall wether or not the water was warm or not. I remember the air was always about 45 degrees, and I think I went in November. It gets even hotter in the "summer."

Since this is the sea, I guess the water was not that warm. If it were a shallow lake or a pool, the water would be warm. In fact, I believe that many of the hotel pools are cooled. Otherwise, you'd have to swim in warm water, which is not very pleasant, and kinda disgusting.

Excellent ratio of sand and water. The photo is amazing. Good luck to you and Love.

Великолепное соотношения песка и воды. Фото изумительное. Удачи Вам и Любви.

Lovely beach. I've never traveling abroad. Beaches in Vietnam have some differences compare to this beach. if you are interested please check out my posts ;)

I need a westward facing warm/hot beach with good airport/train access and low pollution index. Any ideas?

He just told me - late! Can you go look to see if you would support him? He will get Tier 5 for May 2018 if he wins!

I went to your son's post and upvoted his comment. I trust that's the "support" you asked for. If anything else is necessary, please advise.

Re your desired beach, most of my fave beaches are either east-facing or far from transportation. I wonder if Phuket might be good. The airport is in the northern part of the island, and most of the resorts / crowded beaches / civilization are in the middle or south. You might be able to find a great place just 15-20 mins from Phuket Airport.

Another option might be NW of Krabi airport.

Oh, and ... I once stayed just south of the horrible Pattaya for a few days, in Jomtien. The beach was very nice, quite quiet and peaceful. Of course, there were a few tourists, but on the quiet side streets between the beach and the main road were often as many locals as there were tourists. All in all, a great beach and a nice neighborhood.

And there are also many small apartments that you could rent for a reasonable price. And U-tapao (Rayong/ Patttaya) Airport is just 20 miles south of there.
