Hello Steemians! Did you know that the City of Borongan has many tourist spots? Borongan is saturated with a natural attraction that is excellent and considered as one of the best in the Philippines. This is a home of clean rivers, waterfalls, unexplored caves, beautiful beaches, water sports activities like surfing, underwater and many other gifts of nature. And, this is where the famous King of Talkshow Boy Abunda came from.
Today, I will tour you to Helangagan Beach which is located in the fishing village of Punta Maria 20 – 30 minutes north of the city. From the main road to the beach, you have to walk for at least 10-15 minutes.
This is the scenery of going down to the beach. It is a concrete stairway with green trees and rock formation.
Here we are, welcome to Helangagan Beach! A white sandy beach is hidden in a cove surrounded by foliage. The locals have provided open cottages, a space for beach volleyball, and visitors are welcome to stay overnight. It is properly maintained by the local community and there are barangay officials who were assigned to guard the safety of the guests who will stay overnight.
There are many cottages and tables around. You can bring your own foods, from fancy to a classic picnic food, or demonstrate your simple cooking techniques in grilling fresh fish or marinated meat beside your cottage or table.
The beachfront is wide, where people can enjoy various beach activities such as beach volleyball where they have volleyball net on the beach front. You can explore and get inspired by the beautiful landscape of the beach.
For those traveling with their own vehicles, there is a big parking space before reaching the stair down to the resort. It takes at least four hours from Romualdez Airport Tacloban to Borongan but it is worth the long drive. And, from Borongan city proper ask where the tricycle terminal going to Barangay Punta Maria or commonly known as Point Mary. From the proper, it takes around 15 minutes ride.
