imageThe US military is preparing to deploy around 1,000 new troops to Afghanistan as part of the planned government strategy of President Donald Trump. In addition to the troops, the Pentagon will also deploy a number of non-drone aircrafts or the army. The deployment of about 1,000 new troops will be carried out from early February 2018. The new troops who will take up the position as US military adviser in Afghanistan are members of the Army brigade from Fort Benning, Georgia. The delivery of the Pentagon's new personnel will increase the number of US troops operating in Afghanistan to about 14,000 people. A US military official told the Wall Street Journal quoted Saturday that the Pentagon hopes to dramatically increase the US military presence in Afghanistan in the spring. "A number of armed and unarmed fleets will also be sent to the country, which will give US military advisers air support, intelligence and reconnaissance. The Pentagon troops are operating in Afghanistan to help Kabul in the fight against Taliban militants and other militant groups such as Islamist State or ISIS. The Trump president announced in August that 3,000 to 4,000 other US troops would be sent to Afghanistan in an effort to score a decisive victory in a war that has lasted for more than 15 years. As part of the Trump strategy, The White House has delegated substantial decision making powers to its generals. The new management style has been combined with a trend of secrecy regarding the number of troop deployments. Gen. John Nicholson, the head of US forces in Afghanistan, previously told reporters that there will be more "US military shoes" on Afghan soil in the coming months. However, he did not specify the amount. "There are more than 1,000 advisors at any given time," Nicholson said. "But in 2018, that number will increase dramatically." "I believe the victory is closer than ever," added Nicholson. The top US general in Kabul added that there would be more American troops going into Afghanistan after the new year. The increasing number of US military advisers will be supported by combat troops as well.
