Laws, statutes and administrative regulations control every aspect of our lives. They are often voluminous and constantly changing to fit the will of society. They have to be made with equity in mind but time and time again this is forgotten. Judicial review is slow and cumbersome, even when issues conflict with the constitution.
We are a nation of laws -- Laws that permitted slavery, land theft, lawlessness, segregation, internment and deportation without representation. Forget about taking human rights grievances to the World Court, you have to go through domestic channels first.
Justice is blind when it comes to the rich and powerful. To the rest of us, justice is deaf, dumb and blind until appeal or precedence is able to overturn unjust rulings and laws. The crafting of law requires a definition of every person affected by it or for every term used. This is part of the problem. Why can't laws be simple so the average layman can understand them.
Justice for some is not justice for all.
