Hi Hiver's , how are you all.
I just want to share this tradition that we usually celebrate every first month of the year.
The origins of the Ati-Atihan celebration date back to 1212 AD, after a group of 10 Malay chieftains called ‘Datus’ fleeing from the island of Borneo settled on the island of Panay in the Philippines and were granted settlement by the Ati people.
The celebration with a relation to Santo Niño known as the Fiesta de Santo Niño, dates back to at least the 17th century. It was part of the Catholic "fiesta system" employed by the Spanish colonial government to reinforce the reducciones policy that aimed to resettle natives on planned settlements built around a local church.
Every year there's a competition in our barangay as we join the celebration of Santo Nino this was sponsors with the barangay captain and other government staff.
Tomorrow is the highlight so every contestant will parade and dance in street so they sour arround.
In the morning around 8AM the parade will start so every household will wait outside their house and bring the Santo Nino as a part of the tradition in our barangay.
The picture above that's example, but tomorrow I'll update you Hivers what is the exact colors of their costume and also their looks, I will announce who won the price of thirty thousand (30,000).
I am hoping that our street will win this price. hahaha.
I like the first group in that pic.. but why are they so angry?? :P
