I was opportuned to present at the Leadership and Excellence Conference which held today at Trenchard Hall University of Ibadan.
Written below is the spoken words which I presented at the conference.
"You have 5000 followers, yet none of them know you,
Take your phone away and you'll realize you are lonely.
See,
We remember to switch on our phones but forget to switch on our lives?
We're just to caught up in the follows the shares and the likes that we will get instead of coming up with ideas.
We go around with our phones and leave our dreams at home.
We unlock our phones countless times in a day but do we remember to unlock our minds to countless opportunities that surrounds us?
We are too busy charging our phones that we forget to give our lives a little charge of positivity.
We spend hours chatting on phone hiding behind emoji that we forget our real emotions at home.
We get so worried about our internet connection that we forget to go out and make real life connections.
We protect our screens but do we remember to protect our future?
We download and upload, slowly forgetting values we used to uphold.
If only we can change our orientation to help our nation build a better future for our generation.
If only our lives could be as mobile as our phones always on a constant forward motion.
If only we can drop our phones and pick up ideas, creativity and innovations.
If only we can stop tweeting and start acting.
If only we can stop posing for pictures and start building our future.
If only we can stop chatting and start thinking.
If only we can reduce the amount of time we spend online and start getting in touch with our minds.
To maximize your life, you gotta maximize your time.
Opinions and comments are duly welcomed.
All I see here is reality! Good job!
Thank you.
My goodness! This is well penned down. I couldn't agree more. Your post is heart touching. It brings me to sober reflection. Our lives have become so built on social media that we forget reality.
