It is safe to say that LED streetlights are among the most popular products of LED technology. The flexibility of the strips means that you can install light in places you could not before, such as in kitchen cabinets and steps of stairs. The only limit is your imagination. But what do you have to be careful when buying LED street lights? Here is a short guide for buyers.
First of all, you should consider the purpose of your LED lights to turn on. Are you looking for high-luminosity working lights in your hangar or workstation? Or are you looking for decorative lighting behind your bathroom mirror? LED strip lights as working light require a cool and bright light, which means that the color temperature should be around or above 7000 Kelvin. The cold and bright lights above 7000 Kelvin will actually illuminate the desired area and objects inside, which will increase your ability to see specific details of the objects, which is why it is best as working light. Decorative lighting is the opposite. In order to make the areas and objects more visible, while creating an elegant designer look wherever it is installed. If your LED lights are designed for decorative use, make sure to keep the color temperature under 5000 Kelvin. With some LED lamps, you will have the option of dimming the brightness - with these, you need to know the maximum voltage load, as they vary from one product to another.
How long or wide is the area you want to illuminate? Get a tape measure and find out first. When buying your LED street lights, be aware that it is possible that your specific length is not possible, you may need to round. Each LED lamp has cutting points, where you can cut and adjust the length. The most common intervals of these cutting points are 2.5 cm, 5 cm and 10 cm. Some products have cutting points per diode, which means there is a cutting point after every second, third or fourth diode. If you buy LED lamps with 5 cm cutting intervals, but your kitchen cabinet measures 58 cm, you should round up to 55 cm.
Price and quality go hand in hand, and when you buy LED Strip lamps, the cheapest product will be the poorest quality on several parameters. High-quality LED lamps can be up to 20% more energy efficient than low-quality LED strips. High quality tapes will also last up to 25% longer than low quality tapes. This means that spending more money on high quality LED streetlights will save you money in the long run - both in terms of power consumption and lifetime. Poor quality LED lamps will also be more vulnerable in harsh environments where shocks, dust and moisture can easily ruin the entire tape.
