The news has been full of terrifying news surrounding plane crashes lately. I just saw a story that there was a Delta plane crash and it overturned in Toronto. The 76 passengers and four crew on board Flight 4819 have been evacuated following the single-aircraft accident. The only good news is all survived. However, eighteen passengers have been taken to hospital.
What caused the plane to flip and catch fire is not immediately clear but the investigation is already underway. It is known that the crash unfolded during a blowing snow and it could of been strong wind gusts that caused this issue. Winds reached 40 mph on the ground and were even stronger several hundred feet in the air at the time. The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. ET Monday. The Toronto Airport temporarily stopped flights in the wake of the crash, with departures and arrivals resuming as of 5 p.m.
All I know is this comes as I saw another news headline saying that Southwest Airlines said that it is cutting about 15% of corporate jobs, or about 1,750 people. I just get a feeling that these types of accidents will become the norm as airlines look to keep cutting costs. It sad that safety seems to be getting back seated to profit as Southwest said it expects the savings from the cuts to be approx. $210 million this year and about $300 million in 2026.
Southwest stock is up aftermarket as layoff are seen as a good thing...
I'm yet to use a plane once and these type of news give me a scary feeling. Lol😂
It's good the passengers survived and not death
I fly a lot and I can't tell if there are more issues or more coverage at this point.
I don't know which planes are those but Boeing is known to have issues and keep them covered to avoid sales losses
BA has had a lot of manufacturing issues but until we get the accident report I can only assume weather was the issue. I don't get why we are seeing an increase in incidents but I know cost cutting won't help.
I'm always afraid with planes, because if something goes wrong you can't do anything... At least with the car you do your own maintainance and checks
Maybe start taking ships! I hate flying anyway!
Feels like it my wife and I are talking about driving for our next vacation and postponing our trip to Japan until we figure out how everything is going to settle in the next few months.
I think that is smart. I mean, thousands of jets still fly every day, so this is really a drop in the bucket, but for a while there we were kind of lulled into forgetting stuff like this can occur. We had a good ten years or so with minor mishaps.

It was disturbing to hear the news, but the happy thing is that no one died in the accident
It is high time government of several nations take a look at the flights issue
Today we are hearing more and more such news, so engineers have to focus so that such problems are reduced and people's lives are saved.
