The case for a SWAP.HIVE:KATAMI pool

in #leofinance2 years ago

Hi all. This is my entry for the @ecoinstant contest, which you can find here: https://peakd.com/@ecoinstant/win-a-hive-engine-diesel-pool-for-your-project

I would like to nominate this project (Kalavian Tales) for a Diesel Pool.

Explanation of the Project

Kalavian Tales is a new project with four elements: narrative world-building, development of an offline card game, development of an effort-based token ecosystem, and the development of a range of collectible and low-supply NFTs (see KATAN on https://tribaldex.com/nfts).

Given the updates in the past few months, it is now clear to me that at least I am enjoying this project, and will keep it going for a very long time. In terms of finances the project runs largely on voluntary effort, although a healthy KATAMI token ecosystem can lead to reasonable rewards for everyone involved on the medium term.

The focus is currently heavily on the world-building and card game, but over time my intention is to grow the project in breadth in the coming months, and to do so steered by the local community!

How would the pool help?

Currently the KAlavian TAle MInute (KATAMI) token is very much off the radar. I occasionally put a sell order to make a few tokens available to the wider public, but a liquidity pool is a much more natural way to trade KATAMI. Because each token symbolizes a minute of effort, the value of the token in the Diesel Pool gives a good exact measure of how well-appreciated the current developments are! If the value becomes rather low over a prolonged period (e.g. <0.25 Hive) then clearly the project development is becoming inefficient and need re-targeting, while a high value (e.g. >1 Hive) indicates that we're on the right track and putting effort in the right places. Because the Hive Engine has huge market spreads, this is next to impossible to determine this under the current circumstances.

Full details on the KATAMI token are in the White Paper here: https://ecency.com/gaming/@kalavia/kalavian-tales-minutes-katami-token

Additionally, the pool would also help people to easily get KATAMI tokens, or to cash them out if they gained them by contributing to Kalavian Tales, giving a reward for their effort :).

Give any additional details, like how this would affect HIVE.

The pool pairs with SWAP.Hive, so it will lock up at least some Hive as a result. In addition, the Kalavian Tales NFTs, which will be directly derived from the storylines, will come with a wide range of attributes, and I am keen to support their integration into existing games on the long term.

I am willing to donate some KATAMI rewards to the pool to reward liquidity providers (from the @notaboutme account) to help develop the ecosystem.

Closing thoughts

So overall, I think there is a good case to establish this pool, even though the project is very young! Are you inclined to agree?

Oh, that's very nice of you! Much appreciated! 👍

Would you lock up 'corporate liquidity' into your pool?

Yes.
There is the slight issue that the @kalavia project itself doesn't have much corporate liquidity yet (most of its assets consist of the Splinterlands account, which @notaboutme uses as a secondary), so initially I'll add some liquidity from the @notaboutme account to make sure the pool functions as intended.

I'm open as to what level is reasonably required, but am currently thinking of about ~400 Hive of liquidity from @notaboutme to get things started.

(In general, I'm happy to take feedback on board about the liquidity pool design from more experienced liquidity providers than myself. The only thing I'm strict about is to keep overall KATAMI inflation strictly in line with the development effort on the project [or slightly below that when I (@notaboutme) choose to forego rewards, as I have done in the last few weeks])
