The news that the Chainlink (LINK) project announced on Thursday (15) drove an 18% increase in the price of cryptocurrency. LINK is quoted at $ 43, just below its historical high of $ 44.40 reached earlier in the day. Today's high led Chainlink to reach a capitalization of US $ 18 billion and return to being the 10th largest cryptocurrency in the world by market value, a position temporarily occupied by Dogecoin (DOGE). LINK started 2021 for just over US $ 4 and today it has an appreciation of 261% in the year. The weekly growth of 31% is the biggest since the end of February, when it crossed the $ 30 mark for the first time.
As the new white paper revealed, Chainlink's goal is to drive the evolution of hybrid smart contracts. "They are a combination of blockchain smart contract application resources and proofs, data and calculations from the world outside the chain," explained project founder Sergey Nazarov to Decrypt.
