I had no idea how much CUB I’d get in the airdrop. I knew it would be a fair bit; at the time of the airdrop I was fifty-something on the LEO richlist, with zero wrapped LEO. Not really sure where I ranked in the initial drop, I happened to be napping when it happened. But I’m guessing that some of the larger recipients dumped their CUB almost immediately because, once I got up from my nap, my 83.32 CUB made me thirty-something on the CUB richlist.
Maybe the smart move would have been the DeFi route. All the kids are doing it.
But there are some hints that I’m not as sharp as I used to be. Back when schools still routinely administered I.Q. tests, I did “quite well” at two standard deviations above the mean. Not world-class genius, but smarter than your average wombat. That was then, this is now. Maybe it’s just the normal aging process (I’m now 65). Maybe something else. Either way, the decline is hard to ignore.
Yeah, I’ve read a bunch of DeFi tutorials, on Hive and elsewhere. Wrapping, yield-farming, yadda yadda yadda. But I just don’t grok it. And I long ago learned that if I don’t really understand something, I’m not going to invest in it. Bitcoin I get. Hive and LEO make sense to me. CUB and DeFi, not so much.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ll continue to work at understanding DeFi and yield farming. At some point the penny will probably drop. I do after all understand that banking as we have known it is doomed and that somehow blockchain solutions will replace Wells Fargo and similar demons.
But a big part of me really doesn’t give a damn. Maybe I’ve missed out on some massive APR in the first few days. But so what? FOMO feeds the scarcity mindset monkey that sits on our shoulders, gibbering into our ears. Meh, I’m a crypto early adopter, I’ll do just fine irregardless of CUB. Not-quite-Orca, Satoshi stacking, GBTC in my retirement account.
So I don’t need to be on the bleeding edge. For the CUB airdrop, for better or worse, I decided to sell my CUB Hive-Engine tokens. Yeah, I could maybe earn a higher ROI from yield farming, but curation is a form of farming too. But instead of dumping it all at once, I decided to sell it in dribs and drabs over a period of several days. Dollar cost averaging in reverse.
Other than shipping 1 CUB to @edicted, I sold the rest a little at a time from 10–16 March. The 10th and the 16th had the lowest prices, the 13th the highest. Overall, I got 1,550 Hive. So in dollar terms, $500 or so of “free money” from the airdrop. But of course, I didn’t cash out to fiat.
for 50 Hive Stake Based Income units each, and powered up the rest:

tokens. So true. I have to keep reminding myself about that and that there will always be another great opportunity. Yield farming is one (or many) steps too far for me but, I did, with @flauwy's help get my 5 CUB into the DEN.
Selling anything is also not a strong point of mine! 😂

I sold it to. My stupidity got me into believing that I am selling for LEO when I was actually doing that with HIVE. You can't imagine the frustration I had after I realized that. I'll probably have a chance to buy back under $3 in the near future.

They didn't dump, they moved it over to cubdefi on BSC, so it no longer appeared on the chain here.
D’oh! So much I need to learn.
I'm so far behind... what is CUB? I saw I had some and just sold them lol
I have also sold it and buy back with my BNB to stake CUB
I didn't get alot and I had to buy More for farming

sold some to get BNB (as I have 0 BNB, I need to buy little BNB for staking too.)

I got caught up and sent it somewhere then promptly forgot about it. Meh. I'm with you.
Well it may turn it that you were the smartest one of all of use !
At least it was done with the right mind set, if you don’t understand it ...
And by the looks you are still a great personality by sponsoring some basic income shares for someone else! You once again got my deepest respect!
Cheers,
Peter

Hi @preparedwombat it gave me a lot of laughs when I read this "maybe it's just the normal aging process", it's something many people refuse to state openly lol.
Thank you for always supporting me in my post, in everything you do to help me. God bless you always, you will double all that you give.
