Splinterlands stands out as a game-changer in the blockchain gaming space, and I love how it seamlessly combines strategy with the powerful benefits of decentralization. It’s more than just another play-to-earn game!
Splinterlands it’s a dynamic brand new world where players have true ownership of their in-game assets on the blockchain. Whether you acquire cards from the shop, earn them through reward chests, or open packs, the choice is entirely yours!
The true magic lies in its integration with the Hive blockchain, ensuring accessibility for players of all levels. Plus, the Splinterlands community is a treasure trove of experienced players and crypto enthusiasts, ready to share insights and strategies to help you level up your game.
The game’s addictive gameplay, rewarding mechanics, and thriving community reignited my love for blockchain gaming, showing that play-to-earn can actually be fun and sustainable.
One of my questions was how to spend Glint efficiently? Asking this because I am always torn about this dillema... buy card draws for guaranteed units or gamble on reward chests? So I've done an experiment!
How efficient is getting minor chests instead of cards? Not great, as I am still losing after three tries! When I bought cards I was lucky to get two gold foil rare cards, and those alone are worth it 15,000 Glint. Getting minor chests is overally bad, and the numbers are showing that the trend is getting less than what you spent on them.
Test Season 1: Spent 22,000 - Rewards 14985 - Minus 5215
Test Season 2: Spent 15,200 - Rewards 13470 - Minus 1530
Test Season 3: Spent 10,800 - Rewards 14890 - Plus 4090
This is sad, even with the rare Arachne Weaver, I was still down on investment over the three weeks with 2655 Glint. There is too much random across the board, and it was confirmed that getting cards is a better option.
Now I wanted to have a trip down memory lane and fortify my Chaos Legion cards! I hit the marketplace and I found some cheap listings in there, and spent some stuff! The deal was good, getting 30 packs for $11 worth of Hive!
Chaos Legion was a major Splinterlands expansion released in 2021, featuring 15 million packs filled with new cards, abilities, and strategies. Each pack contained five cards, with at least one rare or better. This set played a crucial role in shaping the game's meta and expanding its strategic depth.
The unwrapping was decent, but not mind-blowing. Considering that each pack had to have at least one rare card inside, the bonus drops where quite limited. I got one gold foil Regal Peryton, which alone was sold for $0.95 in a blink... the equivalent of the purchese price of three packs.
Epic count? Only four cards ... but the good ones! What about rare ones? Got 12 extra cards, excluding the expected rare unit in each pack. The most common card seen on the day was the Kulu Swimhunter, so much that I upgraded the dude to level four after opening all packs.
I added all spare cards and summoners straight into the marketplace, and I sold everything in less than 48 hours! I made $5 worth of DEC, which make is a 50% profit on those 30 packs I bought for Hive. I am happy with the experiment, and I don't with to replicate it.
The Chaos Legion cards are not the backbone of Splinterlands, but the new units are the ones making a difference on the battlefield! I am talking about new dynamics and abilities from Rebellion Packs or the limited edition cards from the Hall of Legends!
Like.... Korgha Ghashglok... who led the Duratuk's shadow war against the Torvingor Kalamenty from the forests of the Northern Highlands. Her mission? Tracking the legions’ movements and orchestrated devastating ambushes against their convoys and patrols!
The Warborn Shaman must battle, and I was lucky to get some good battle-rules upon first try! Equalizer and Wands-Out gave a good dynamic to this fight, with only casters being available for selection. I used the 48 mana cap to select both over-powered units and cheaper but deadly ones.
Thaddius Brood: +1 Gladiator Card and -1 Spell Power to enemies
Djinn Muriat: Caster with Void Armor and Knock Out
Warborn Shaman: Caster with Void Armor
Usut: Caster with Flying and Bloodlust
Venari Bonesmith: Caster with Life Leech
Arachne Weaver: Caster with Corrupted Healing
Magi Necrosi: Caster with Snipe and Camouflage
My strategy was to keep Djinn Muriat alive for longer, through Corrupted Healing, while the other casters are nuking the enemies. I was surprised to see such a poor line-up, with only two enemies selected for this glorious battle!
Only Skok Duskblight and Usut were standing before my army, and I can say that my selection was so good that would have won even against a fully prepared team! Not being cocky about it but my defense was solid, and the attack was lethal!
Skok demise came before the first round ended, and Usut alone was no match for my army. They didn't even scratched Djinn Muriat! See the full battle here!
