As a recent explorer of the Hive ecosystem, I've been noticing these tipping coins, but not really understanding how they worked.
That changed recently when I discovered @coffee-coin and a nice explanation of how it worked in this post https://peakd.com/c/hive-167922
In for a penny, in for a pound, so I picked up 100 $coffee on Hive Engine and started to tip posts I like with !COFFEE.
I have to say, I am enjoying this extra dimension to following content I like, it feels nice to be able to leave a token of appreciation and at the same time, I am rewarded with 0.05 Coffee, a truly symbiotic system.
P.S This is my first post, all advice appreciated

A belated Welcome!
I saw a solid reply for a new looking account on a post by @revisesociology, so thought I'd come take a look.
A first post with no human replies, I think it was the same for me in 2017 :)
From what I read on the post linked you seem like more of an investor than a writer, but they can work well together on Hive.
Tips work well for posts you come across that are outside the 7 day payout, and on PeakD (and likely other interfaces), you can tip the native token also.
As advice for those wanting to build an audience, I've mentioned that frequent posting as well as commenting (a lot in the beginning!) on the posts of others with seemingly similar interests is the slow road to to building up that Hive Power.
Have a good day!
Hi, Thank you for the reply ( and the tip) to be honest I'd forgotten I'd even made a post :-), if I'm remembering correctly I made it as part of a competition entry
You are right, I'm not much of a writer, but Hive is drawing me in. I like the flow of content that is relevant to my interests. Revisescoiology's content resonates with me.
I've been playing Splinterlands since just before CL, so reading posts where others outline their thoughts and strategy is an interesting dimension to the wider "game" for me.
I'm not so much interested in building an audience, as I am in engaging with the wider community, my aim is to learn, and this was my motivation to start dabbling in crypto back in 2017 ( ADA back in late 2017 was my baptism of fire). Can't say I've had great success financially, but I am always learning , so, I'm up in that respect.
Many on Hive including myself went through this - I've learned a bit since then, and pretty much solely thanks to member content and developments on Hive.
A Splinterlands player - me too :) Just before CL was I think when NFTs caught the attention quite rapidly? I've been playing since near the start, not very well but I do enjoy a battle!
Well, I'll see you around in the comments I guess. Have a nice rest of weekend.
