On the 3rd (local time), the American diplomatic magazine Foreign Policy (FP) reported an article analyzing the possibility of Trump's involvement in Korean politics under the title “Korean conservatives are desperate to get Trump’s support.”
Foreign Policy stated, “Lawmakers from the ruling party, including Na Kyung-won from the People Power Party, attended President Trump’s inauguration last month,” adding, “They asked the returning US president to intervene in the domestic crisis, but he does not have the authority to overthrow Korea’s democracy.”
It continued, “Despite the desperate cries from the People Power Party, it seems that President Trump has no intention of saving President Yoon,” diagnosing, “President Trump, who prioritizes American interests over values or alliances, is likely to view Korea's political crisis from a transactional perspective.”
The article also mentioned, “Regarding incidents like President Yoon’s own goals, President Trump irritably remarked, ‘Everyone calls me confused, but look at Korea,’” adding, “Trump joked that he would meet President Yoon if the impeachment process stops, but despite the conservative lawmakers' disappointment attending the inauguration, he showed no willingness to intervene in (Korean) domestic conflicts.”
Furthermore, Foreign Policy analyzed that Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, could be a better partner for President Trump.
Foreign Policy evaluated Lee, stating, “He is positioning himself as a resilient leader capable of navigating Trump’s mercurial diplomacy,” and “a close pragmatist to President Trump, who prioritizes national interests.”
Conclusively, the article predicted, “Ultimately, a better diplomatic ally for Trump may not be President Yoon, but leader Lee,” foreseeing that “Realists with starkly different political values could clash and build an unexpected partnership.”
It seems Trump made such remarks.
In fact, the US has continuously made statements supporting the impeachment process in a step-by-step manner.
Now, we must swiftly eradicate internal disorder forces and establish order in our country.
