His anger at the state of affairs escalates during bar conversations with fellow fishermen, where he warns them about the futility of going back to sea; they are simply lying to themselves about the possibility of recovery and sustainable fishing. The local senator’s false promises, fueled by bribery from Titan International, further add to his disillusionment.
