Part 2/7:
With no formal qualifications but some prior military experience, Knock embarks on a path of deception. He immerses himself in medical books, and when a sick mechanic reveals his knowledge of typhus treatment, Knock cleverly extracts the treatment information, instructing the mechanic to follow it. His deceit flourishes when he concocts a phony ointment from whale fat to sell to a sunburned woman, convincing her it's a rare remedy used by Cleopatra. Remarkably, Knock's charade appears successful, as both the mechanic and the woman show signs of improvement, much to the amusement of the captain.
