Part 2/8:
Pam's adventure begins at dawn when she prepares her climbing equipment, reflecting on the memories of her late daughters. Her next stop is a local diner where she meets Dave, the owner. Concerned for her safety, Dave disapproves of her plan to hike Mount Washington alone, given the severe weather warnings and the lack of phone signal in the area. However, Pam remains undeterred, insisting that today marks a special occasion she cannot miss. The mountains, she thinks, are both her therapy and her sanctuary.
After her breakfast, Pam drives to the base of the mountain, where she encounters two campers who report no sightings of fellow hikers. A sense of unease washes over her as she begins her ascent, leaving her climbing route mapped out on her windshield in case of emergencies.
