Standing majestically in downtown Lhokseumawe, Aceh Province, Islamic Center or Almarkazul Islami Lhokseumawe presents a Middle Eastern feel in the fertile land of Aceh. The origin of the words Lhokseumawe is "Lhok" and "Seumawe". Lhok means in, bay, sea trough and Seumawe means circling water or the center and springs on the sea along the offshore Banda Sakti and its surroundings. Other information also mentions the name Lhokseumawe derived from the name Teungku namely Teungku Lhokseumawe, which was buried in the village of Uteun Bayi, the oldest village in Banda Sakti District.
