One of the most frustrating things about life is that sometimes it is necessary to slow down. A friend of mine decided to go into business with her nail person. The lady does amazing work but is not business savvy. My friend has a natural skill for business, but she had always been too scared to try anything on her own. When the two of them started talking my friend came up with a plan that would get them both what they wanted.
My friend then started doing all of the set up to launch and even nearly committed to be a sponsor for a CrossFit competition to get the name out there. She got all the legal requirements in line. She started to draw plans for seasonal promotions, and she was working around the clock to launch the business within 3 weeks of the decision.
That's when the nail lady got a health scare and decided it was not the time to start something so quickly. She was still in, but she wanted to slow down and wait until next year. My friend was really bummed by this development. She was ready to go, and now she was forced to wait nine months to get started, which to a person with no patience is the same as an eternity.
After they had a chance to talk things thru, they settled on an October launch. It is still some time away, but it was an acceptable compromise for both parties.
My friend learned her lesson, and she made the choice to stick with the plan, even if they had a more protracted timeline now. She is still working on the project, however with the luxury of time, she has been able to polish her ideas more thoroughly.
I am really rooting for both ladies, I wish them all the success in the world. They are an inspiration, and I will keep an eye on them to share their success story when it goes from plan into action.
Until next time!
