Proverbs 4:23
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
These Bible verses tell us to guard our hearts. Theologically, the heart is the seat of emotions.
When the hope of the heart deferred, it makes it sick. The emotion will then be affected and it will result in a sad disposition. The mind will play its illusions, seeking to escape the reality rather than to face it. Thus, one's priorities, convictions, standards, and positions will deteriorate when he/she cannot handle the pressure of criticisms and objections. And one's dream is not achieved when a person is swung to the hammock of depression and slept thereby.
